Structure Fire -
Mill Swamp Road

2010 - Stations 50, 60, 30 were tapped for an
unkown type structure fire. Upon arrival, Engine 52 noted
flames visible from the street and laid a 3" supply line down the
driveway. Upon investigation, it was determined that the
occupant had intentionally set the fire to raze an old shed.
Engine 52 extinguished what remained of the structure. Tanker
30 and Engine 32 handled water supply.

2010 - As severe thunderstorms
passed through the area, Station 50, 60, and 30 were paged out for a
dwelling fire. Engine 52 quickly responded with four
personnel. 501 (J. Stallings) arrived on scene to find a two
story dwelling with fire showing from the second floor. Engine
52 arrived and deployed a bumper line for fire attack. The
fire was quickly knocked and crews worked to remove several pets
from the dwelling. The fire appeared to have started due to a
lightning strike. Also, ironicly this was a members residence.
New Fire Station Construction Begins
May 10th
2010 - After years of planning, the
new fire station bid was awarded and site work has begun. A new page has
been added in the column of buttons on the left. As progress is made, new
pictures will be added to the page. It's estimated that it will take about
15 months to complete the project.
Extrication - Old

10th 2010 -
Stations 30, 50, and 60 responded for a single vehicle into a pole.
Units arrived to find the driver with serious injuries and pinned in
the vehicle. Rescue 51 personnel operated for an extended time
before the patient was extricated.

1st 2010 -
Station 50 and 60 were tapped out to assist Station 10 with an MVA
with double extrication. Engine 52 and Rescue 51 arrived to
start extricating the second patient from the other vehicle.
Both patients were flown from a nearby landing zone.

28th 2010 - Apparatus
from Stations 30, 50, and 60 responded for an overturned vehicle.
Units arrived to find the driver ejected from the vehicle. The
patient was packaged by Station 60 and flown to Norfolk General by
Nightingale. (Notice the bent street sign from the vehicle in
the pic.)

7th 2010 - In the early
hours of the morning, Stations 50, 60, 10 were banged out for a
dwelling fire in the Smithfield Heights area. Upon arrival
units found the fire was extinguished by the homeowner. Crews
overhauled the area and checked for extension.
New Rescue - Pre-Construction Meeting
April
1st
2010 - The apparatus committee comprising of 5
members traveled with a sale representative from Powells Truck and
Equipment to Clintonville, WI. While at the Seagrave factory
for 2 days, the committee had the very tedious job of reviewing
every line item on the component list and making some minor changes.
We should have a set of drawings sent to us within a few weeks for
final approval.
