The SVFD has many responsibilities and this includes rescue of victims from water emergencies. With the several bodies of water in Isle of Wight County, the department saw the need to have a water rescue team. This consists of several members trained in surface and swiftwater rescue, multiple boats and a large stock of water rescue equipment. Thursday March 11, members trained at the Smithfield YMCA to hone thier skills. As always, with the warm weather approaching please use due caution and appropriate personnel PPE when enjoying the water.
