On Saturday Sept. 7th the crew of Lt. Brian Singles, F/F Mike Biondi and Jr. F/F Ryan Smith took Engine 50 to the Riverside Convalescent Center's Employee Family Cookout on Lumar Rd. The staff at the center had invited the fire dept. there to give a public safety demonstration and to show the kids and their parents the fire engine. Approximately 10 folks gathered around the engine. First Lt. Singles introduced the crew and then began explaining the equipment that is carried on it. Firefighter Biondi started the motor and turned on all the lights and siren for their enjoyment. Junior Firefighter Ryan Smith then demonstrated how a firefighter looks all dressed up in his protective equipment and SCBA. After some question and answer moments we were invited to have something to eat. All of the staff and their families were very appreciative of us taking time to come out and visit. The Engine 50 crew was very appreciative of the good food and community support from all who were there.
