On the evening of Feb 4, 2022 the SVFD held its annual awards dinner banquet at the Smithfield Center. In attendance were members of local government and neighboring fire depts. Keynote speaker, Smithfield Town Manager Mr Michael Stallings, who has a deep family history in the SVFD highlighted how "volunteers don't have the time, they have the heart". Yearly awards were presented to Lieutenant Chris Zach as Firefighter Of The Year and to Firefighter Ryan Brown who earned the Jack Finley Training Award. Many thanks to the local businesses who donated the door prizes and to Bubba & Frank's for providing a wonderful buffet style dinner.
