Shortly after the evening meal on March 8, Smithfield was requested by Surry Co. Fire for assistance with a well involved single family structural fire. Engine 52 (Lt. C. Smith), with a crew of 5, Chief J. Stallings (505) and Capt C. Hassell (508) responded and assisted on location with interior firefighting operations. Once the fire was placed under control, SVFD was released by command and returned to quarters.
