Tire Fire in the Second Due

On Weds. April 12 at approx. 1605 hrs multiple calls were being received for a tire pile on fire on Brewers Neck BLVD in Carrollton 10's first due. Units from Smithfield were quickly dispatched and arriving units found a large pile of tires on fire and spreading to a junkyard. Crews began fire operations and requested assistance from numerous mutual aid depts. The fire was brought under control with assistance from Chesapeake FD Foam Team as well as the Portsmouth FD Hazardous Material Response Team. No injuries were reported and units remained on scene until approx. 2115 hrs.
