Heavy Fire on Arrival in First Due

On Saturday March 18, 2017 at 1714hrs, Engine Cos. 50, 51 and 52 responded to a Working Structural Fire on James Wilson Way. Isle of Wight Rescue Chief 601 arrived first, established command and found heavy fire conditions in a small exterior storage building with heavy fire extension to an occupied one story residential structure. Smithfield crews arrived and went to work extinguishing the fully involved storage building and the heavy fire in the attic of the main structure. Searches were negative, utilities were controlled and the fire extinguished by 1800hrs. No injuries were reported and crews were in service by 1845 hrs.
