The Smithfield Volunteer Fire Department not only provides fire suppression, vehicle extrication, hazardous materials incident mitigation and water rescue services but we also provide technical rescue capabilities in the form of low angle rope rescue. On Monday November 7, members trained on various aspects of rope rescue including stokes basket rigging, basic hauling and lowering systems and anchoring setup, this drill was led by Fire Lieutenant Charlie Kempton.
