On 3/30/15 we held on training drill on Fire Attack, Search & Rescue, and Calling A Mayday. Members had hands-on training at a acquired structure in our district in which crews staged and were dispatched to a simulated working fire with light smoke showing on the " Charlie" side with a civilian trapped. Once on scene Engine 51 gave a size -up of the building and deployed a handline and proceeded to have fire attack working together as a team conducting a search while advancing to the fire. Rescue-50 arrived on scene and assumed RIT duties, setting up ground ladders for egress and simulating cutting off all utilities. During the simulated scenario a firefighter from Engine 51 got separated from his crew and was disorientated in which he called a mayday using LUNAR to command. Command assigned Rescue-50 to enter the structure on the " Charlie" side to assist the firefighter in distress taking their handtools and a tag line. Rescue- 50 crew located the firefighter in distress on the " Bravo", " Charlie" corner and assisted him out of the structure. Engine 51 crew extinguished the fire and rescued the trapped civilian from the structure as well. After the first scenario was complete members switched crews and the same scenario was conducted again. Instructors for the training drill were Captain Koepke, LT. B.Singles ( was the IC for the drill), and FF. G.Sellers. Was a good turn out of members and a successful training night here at " THE 50 HOUSE."
