By Captain Jason Koepke
February 3, 2015

This past Monday night members of our department held a training on the "Box Alarm Drill" in which crews were dispatched to a simulated single story wood frame residential structure fire on Bowling Green Road in the county in which crews had to arrive on scene and perform the duties of each company and each riding assignment duties depending on what apparatus and seat they were riding. All crews work as a team and performed scene size-up, interior fire attack, forcible entry, search & rescue, ventilation, and water supply. The instructors for the class were FF Greg Sellers, Lt. Brian Singles and Captain Jason Koepke. After the drill all crews had a sit down critique at the station and talked about the operations of the drill and the riding assignments for each of the apparatus on scene. The drill was another successful night of training for the Smithfield Vol. Fire Department.
