Stations 50 & 60 were alerted at approximately 4:28 am to an accident with unknown injuries in the area of 14227 Courthouse Hwy. Additional information provided by dispatch indicated there had been a head on collision involving a passenger vehicle and a tractor-trailer. To potentially further complicate matters, initial reports indicated that the tractor-trailer was transporting LP gas.

Chief 504 was the first to arrive on scene and confirmed that the tractor trailer had gone off the road and into an adjacent field. Chief 504 further advised dispatch that the trailer was most likely loaded with grease from the local packing plants eliminating a significant early concern.

With no immediate hazards present, the crews from Rescue 50 and Medic 65 rapidly packaged one of the victims and transported the same to a local hospital for treatment. Extrication operations commenced as soon as instructed to do so by the Virginia State Police (VSP). Upon completion of the extrication operations, Company 50 turned the scene over to VSP and cleared the incident.
