The bells rang for a working structure fire for the second time this week in Hamtown at 2231 hrs on Thursday March 23, 2017. First arriving E51 and the Rescue found a well off two story residential structure with rapidly advancing fire conditions. Crew mounted an aggressive interior fire attack and primary search, which proved negative. Additional crews were called in from Chuckatuck and Carrollton VFD to assist with fireground operations bringing the fire under control approx. 1 hour later. The red cross assisted the occupants as needed and the Virginia State Police Fire Investigators conducted the investigation. No injuries were reported but unfortunately the family pet was lost.
