Support Services Information

 
         
   

Support Services Division is a special membership classification that allows an individual to be a part of the SVFD without having to be an actual firefighter. These individuals participate in various support activities within the organization. The 2nd Vice President of the SVFD is responsible for overseeing the Support Services Program.

 
   

 

 

Requirements:

 

HERE IS A LIST OF ACTIVITIES THAT SUPPORT SERVICES MEMBERS CAN PERFORM:

  • On-Scene Rehab
  • Vehicle Maintenance
  • Fund Raisers
  • Photography
  • Videography
  • Record Keeping
  • Recruitment
  • Social Events
  • Data Entry
  • Grant Procurement
  • Fire Prevention & Education

  • Applicants must be 18 years of age
  • Must have a High School Diploma (G.E.D. is OK)
  • A Smithfield Volunteer Fire Department application will be completed and turned into the 2nd Vice President.
  • Candidates will submit & PASS a criminal history background investigation
  • Candidates will submit & PASS a drug screen
  • Support Services members are required to provide the department with 40 (forty) hours of service per year.
  • All Support Services Members will need a sponsor from a full member of the department. (Obtained after the application has been read before the department)
  • This is a non-firefighting membership classification
