MVC - Route 10 Bypass

December 22nd 2007 - While several members at the 50 House were hard at work on the 2008 SVFD calendar, at approx. 1155 hours the tones dropped for an accident w/ unknown injuries.  Engine 52 and Rescue 51 responded w/ six personnel to find IOWVRS (Station 60) was already on scene due to a medical emergency call prior to the accident at the same location.  During the medical call, while traffic was shut down to one lane, a sedan made a U-turn on Rt. 10 while traffic was moving and struck a small pick-up.  Both vehicles left the roadway and came to rest in the underbrush along the ditch.  The driver of the sedan fled the scene to the nearby woods, and wasn't located while on scene.  The driver and passenger of the pick-up were uninjured.  Engine 52 provided traffic control until the vehicles were removed.
