June 23rd 2006 - Station 50 was kept
busy today with a total of 11 runs. It all started around 0213 this morning when

held to a room and contents. A malfunctioning dryer caused this fire. (E53, R51,
E52 & S50 responded) After returning to quarters, we noticed a slight problem
with one of the rear tires on 53. (It was flat) Thanks to the good folks over at
Smithfield Transportation, we were able to fix the tire and return E53 to
service around 0400. Later this morning,
Station 60 (IOWVRS) requested a lift assist. E53 and S50 responded. During the

handled. All was quiet until 1225 when Engine 52 responded to Station 40's
district for a reported structure fire on Clyde's Lane. An accident came in at
1512 on Turner Drive. Less than an hour later (1551 hrs) we assisted IOWVRS with
a driver for a difficulty breathing run. In the afternoon, a strong line of
thunder storms moved through the area creating numerous calls in the county. At
1614 a brush fire was reported in the area of 11185 Easy Street. This was a
working fire right at the height of the storm. Soon after,
another brush fire was reported in the area of Orchard Garden Road. That fire
turned into a good intent call. Then (1702) another alarm activation, this time at the
IOW School Annex Building, with nothing found there. A 2 vehicle accident was
reported at 1728 on Old Stage Hwy by Hardy Elementary School which was handled
